The pharaohs' tombs up close.

The almost forgotten giant of the West Bank.
The famous guardians of Thebes.
A sunset visit in a unique atmosphere.
A 45-minute boat ride on the Nile included.
A walk through a genuine local souk.

Air-conditioned vehicle and free cold drinks.
No crowds, no mass tourism and no rushing – just your group, your guide and Luxor at your own pace.
Your private driver picks you up early in the morning directly from your hotel lobby in Hurghada. The journey through the desert and the fertile Nile Valley is already part of this remarkable trip. On the way, you see small farms, date palms and a more authentic side of Egypt, far from the usual tourist routes.
Your first stop in Luxor is one of the most impressive places of the whole journey: the Karnak Temple complex. Photos and films cannot capture its true scale. Only when you stand before its monumental buildings and the famous Avenue of Sphinxes can you feel the vastness of this ancient complex.
For more than 2,000 years, successive pharaohs expanded Karnak, creating an extraordinary ensemble of temples, obelisks, columns and sanctuaries. One of its most spectacular parts is the Great Hypostyle Hall with 134 monumental columns. You also see the Temple of Amun-Ra, majestic obelisks and the Sacred Lake.
Your English-speaking Egyptologist guide from Sharara Tours not only shows you the key monuments but also explains their history, symbolism and meaning for the ancient Egyptians.
After Karnak, you enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and taste fresh Egyptian dishes. Then you check in at a 5-star hotel in Luxor. There is time to rest, shower and relax before the next part of the programme.
In the late afternoon, you visit Luxor Temple, close to the bank of the Nile. At sunset, the site takes on a special character. As the sun sinks behind the West Bank and warm evening light illuminates the sandstone walls, the atmosphere is truly memorable.
The temple was dedicated mainly to the Theban triad of gods: Amun, Mut and Khonsu. Amenhotep III and Ramesses II left their mark here, and later Alexander the Great did too.
Construction of Luxor Temple began in the 14th century BC. Karnak and Luxor Temple were also linked by the monumental Avenue of Sphinxes, a processional way about 2.7 kilometres long.
Optional: the evening Sound and Light Show at Karnak for an extra fee. It is a fascinating way to end your first day in Luxor.
In the evening, you also stroll through the local souk. The scent of spices and oriental oils, Egyptian handicrafts, alabaster goods and the bustle of traders reveal a completely different, modern side of Luxor.
It is also a good chance to buy souvenirs and soak up the city’s atmosphere beyond its ancient temples.
Finally, the day ends with dinner at the hotel and a well-deserved rest after a day full of experiences.
Start your day with a hot-air balloon flight at sunrise and admire a breathtaking panorama of the Valley of the Kings, the Nile and the desert from above. Golden sands, the blue Nile and lush green fields create a unique landscape from this perspective. It is one of the most unforgettable ways to see Luxor.
After a hearty breakfast, you check out of the hotel and begin your second day of sightseeing.
About 5 km north-west of Luxor lies one of the most important archaeological sites in the world: the Valley of the Kings. For almost 500 years, during the 18th, 19th and 20th Dynasties, tombs for the pharaohs and leading figures of ancient Egypt were cut into its rocky slopes.
More than 60 tombs have been discovered here, including those of rulers such as Tutankhamun, Seti I and Amenhotep II. Your English-speaking Egyptologist guide from Sharara Tours accompanies you through three tombs, explaining the colourful reliefs, hieroglyphs and religious texts describing the pharaoh’s journey through the afterlife.
The Valley of the Kings served as a royal necropolis from roughly the 16th to the 11th century BC. The most famous tomb, that of Tutankhamun, was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter. It became famous above all because an exceptionally rich part of its burial treasure survived.
Optional for an extra fee: entry to the tombs of Tutankhamun and Ramesses VI. Tickets can be bought on site in line with the site’s current rules.
At the foot of the monumental limestone cliffs of Deir el-Bahari on the West Bank stands the Temple of Hatshepsut. Even after about 3,500 years, its terraced architecture looks strikingly modern and blends harmoniously into the surrounding rocks.
Interestingly, Hatshepsut was one of the most influential women in ancient Egyptian history. She ruled as a pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty, adopting the full royal titles and traditional insignia of power.
The temple was built of pale limestone and is one of the most distinctive monuments of the Theban Necropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It dates from the 15th century BC. Its reliefs depict, among other things, the legend of Hatshepsut’s divine birth and the famous trading expedition to the Land of Punt.
Many visitors to Luxor skip Medinet Habu, which is a shame. In fact, it is one of the best-preserved and most impressive temple complexes on the West Bank.
The mortuary temple of Ramesses III impresses with its monumental walls, vast courtyards and well-preserved reliefs. That is why it is especially interesting for travellers who want to see more than Luxor’s most popular sights.
The complex served administrative as well as religious purposes. It was built during the 20th Dynasty. Its walls still show famous scenes of Ramesses III’s military campaigns, including battles against the Sea Peoples.
On the way to the restaurant, you stop at Luxor’s two most famous statues: the Colossi of Memnon. These monumental seated figures, about 18 metres tall, depict Pharaoh Amenhotep III. They originally stood at the entrance to his vast mortuary temple.
In Roman times, the site attracted travellers from across the world. One of the statues became famous for mysterious sounds heard at sunrise, so around 2,000 years ago the Colossi were already a kind of ancient tourist attraction.
The statues were erected in the 14th century BC, and each is about 18 metres high.
After lunch in Luxor, you board a motorboat for a Nile boat ride of about 45 minutes. It is a peaceful moment after intensive sightseeing. You can watch the riverbanks, green fields, birds and the daily life of the people of the Nile Valley.
Finally, on reaching the East Bank, an air-conditioned car is waiting to take you comfortably back to Hurghada.
