Itinerary – Three Pyramid Complexes in One Day
We pick you up from your hotel at around 3:00 am and head straight for Cairo, with a rest stop on the way. At around 9:00 am, you reach Saqqara, where your journey through the history of the Egyptian pyramids begins.
Saqqara and the Step Pyramid of Djoser
At Saqqara, you first see the famous Step Pyramid of Djoser, built around 2650 BC. It is one of the oldest monumental stone complexes in history and a key stage in the development of pyramid building in ancient Egypt.
Dahshur – the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid
Next, you travel to Dahshur to see two remarkable pyramids of Pharaoh Sneferu: the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid. They show the next stages in pyramid construction, which finally led Egyptian builders to the form we know from the monumental Giza Pyramids.
Afterwards, you enjoy lunch at a garden restaurant before continuing to the famous Giza Plateau.
The Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx
This is the highlight of your Saqqara Dahshur Giza Pyramids tour. You see the monumental Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, including the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the only surviving wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Finally, you stand before the mysterious Great Sphinx, one of the most recognisable symbols of ancient Egypt.
In the evening, you begin the journey back to your hotel, arriving at around 9:00 pm. By then, you will have traced the evolution of the Egyptian pyramids from Saqqara and Dahshur to the great monuments of Giza.
Why Choose the Saqqara Dahshur Giza Pyramids Tour?
Above all, you see the whole history of pyramid building in one day. Saqqara and Dahshur are also much quieter than Giza, so you explore without the crowds. The tour is private, so we adapt the pace to you. Meanwhile, your English-speaking Egyptologist guide explains how the pharaohs’ building techniques changed over time. In addition, lunch at a garden restaurant is included. Sharara Tours handles the organisation, so transport and tickets are taken care of. Browse more Cairo tours.
