Itinerary: Giza Saqqara Dahshur Tour from Cairo
Early in the morning, at around 3:00 am, you leave your hotel by private air-conditioned transfer to Cairo, with a stop on the way. It is worth bringing something warm and a snack for the journey.
Saqqara and the Step Pyramid of Djoser
We begin at around 9:00 am in Saqqara, where you see the Step Pyramid of Djoser. It was built around 2650 BC and is considered the oldest stone building in history. What’s more, Djoser’s complex is surrounded by a 10-metre limestone wall. Your English-speaking Egyptologist guide explains the pyramid’s role in the development of Egyptian funerary architecture.
Dahshur: the Bent and Red Pyramids
Next, we drive to Dahshur to see the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid. You find out why King Sneferu built the Bent Pyramid. You also hear the story of the architect who later succeeded in building the first smooth-sided pyramid, the model for the pyramids at Giza.
Afterwards, you enjoy lunch at a garden restaurant serving freshly prepared Egyptian specialities. Then we set off for Giza.
The Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx
The highlight of the day is a visit to the Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure at Giza. They are the only surviving wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, so they make a huge impression.
Next, you see the Great Sphinx, the legendary guardian of Giza. As it holds 4,500 years of history and mysteries, your Egyptologist shares their knowledge to help you understand them.
At the end of a day full of discoveries, at around 9:00 pm, you return to your hotel. In this way, you see the pyramids of Giza, Saqqara and Dahshur on a single tour. Browse more Cairo tours.
